Who am I?

Hi guys and welcome to my blog!

I'm so exited by this! I've already had a danish blog for more than a year, but I've been thinking a lot about making one in english. I guess there would be a lot more readers if it was english - plus, I really wanna be able to put my recipes on Pinterest!

Well, who am I? I'm a 21 year old girl, who has taken the decision to go veggie. I'm lacto-ovo vegetarian and to be honest, I do eat fish sometimes... Please don't hate me! I only do it if people serve a fish-dish to me and it doesn't happen more than once a month. It's a long story and I won't bore you with it, but if you are really eager to hear it, just let me know.

Anyhoo! Why did I go veggie? I've spent a month in a Højskole, which is sort of a danish school that'll translate into Folk High School. We had a small project about veganism and it really inspired me a lot. It showed me all the reasons to go veggie and that it really wasn't that hard. So two weeks after I got home, I ate my last piece of meat. I've now been "clean" since February 16, 2013.

As if that wasn't enough, I care a lot about taking care of the environment. We only have one planet Earth and I think we owe it to our selves and our children to leave it as a better place than it was when we came. One of the plus sides of being veggie is that it's not as big a burden to the environment as if you eat meat. A pound of soy requires one tenth of the amount of water that is required to produce a pound of beef - and that pound of beef requires one hundred times as much water as a pound of grain. One of my vegan friends told me, that he could turn on the water and just let it run and on a lifetime, he still wouldn't spend as much water as an omnivore. That sure puts things in perspective, huh?
This "save the environment"-thingie isn't all about the water. I also care a lot about the metal. It's extremely important to recycle it, otherwise we'll run out of metal in just 40 years, I believe I read. Instead of just throwing cans in the trash can and send it of to be burnt, please recycle it, so we can make new cans out of it. Yay, recycling <3

I live in Aarhus, Denmark, where I live the happy life as a student. I'm taking a Bachelor in (Bio)Medical Laboratory Technology. Sounds fancy, huh? Sadly, after I started, I found out that this isn't exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life. That's led to a lot of thoughts about what I DO want to do for the rest of my life. Since I became a veggie, I've started to care a lot about health and diet, sooooo..... As it looks right now, I got my eyes set on a Master of Science in Public Health. That sounds so awesome, right? I'm pretty exited 'bout it too!

I guess you're getting tired of reading about me now, amirite? The last thing you should know about me (I promise it's the last - and yes, it DOES have relevance for this blog!) is that I'm a huge fan of bad jokes and puns. So if you guys are lucky, I might treat you with a joke every now and then. Please be as exited as I am!

So, I guess I'm ready for this blog to air. PLEASE let me know what you think. Whether it's good or bad critique, I'm here to take it with a pinch of salt (get it? Pinch of salt? Food blog?).

xx

Aaaaand this is what I look like
